Pregnancy Testing

Pregnancy Testing

When should I take a test?

The best time to take a pregnancy test is after a missed period. Pregnancy tests are the most effective when you are two weeks late for your period. Missed periods are commonly the first sign of being pregnant. Here is a list of signs & symptoms:

  • missed period
  • tender and swollen breasts
  • nausea, with or without vomiting
  • increased urination
  • fatigue (tiredness)
  • light spotting
  • cramping
  • moodiness
  • bloating
  • constipation

How do pregnancy tests work?

Pregnancy tests detect hCG, a hormone that is found in the urine of women who are pregnant. Our nurses will administer the test and go over your results immediately after the test.

If I'm pregnant, what's next?

If you have had unprotected sex, you might be at risk for an STD/STI. A Sexually Transmitted Infection can cause serious harm to you and your pregnancy if left untreated. We offer STD testing services for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea if you have a positive pregnancy test and can provide you with referrals for any other testing you may need.

We also will provide information on all of your options, which are abortion, adoption, and parenting. Our compassionate staff can answer questions on those options. Additionally, if you test positive at our center, we are able to offer you a free, limited ultrasound right at our clinic.
